Background
Driving a vehicle or heavy equipment in low visibility conditions puts everyone on the road in danger. Our industrial optics group is currently working on a brand new, laser-based vehicular driving assistance system, created as part of an internal R&D project.
Solution
We are developing a laser imaging system designed to enhance the vision of drivers who find themselves in low visibility conditions. Poor weather conditions can often restrict visibility to as little as a few dozen meters or less. Lasers penetrate snow, rain, and fog, making it possible to extend visibility to improve safety. This technology will assist drivers—especially in emergency or snow removal vehicles—so they can do their jobs regardless of weather conditions.
