Metal Machining

Background

Laser technology is extensively used in metal machining, which is why a wide variety of machining systems are now available on the market. However, demand for ever-smaller miniaturized components with new features can impose constraints beyond the capacity of existing systems.

Solution

For these applications, we use a femtosecond laser, the only type of laser capable of performing such precise machining operations with such minimal thermal impact on the surrounding material. Femtosecond lasers can be used with all types of material, making them a highly versatile tool for machining all categories of metal and alloy. In addition, since each pulse removes only a very small quantity of material, femtosecond lasers can be envisaged for a variety of operations, including cutting, milling, and marking, to name but a few.
