R. Jedidi, F. Châteauneuf, M. Wang, F. Lamontagne, C. Chevalier, B. Moffat , and J.-P. Blanchet "Conceptual Design of the TICFIRE Payload" CloudSat-CALIPSO Science Team Meeting, 2011

Abstract: TICFIRE is a process oriented mission dedicated to the observation of key parameters of Thin Ice Clouds (TIC) forming in the cold regions of the Poles and globally in the upper troposphere. It measures directly in the far IR (FIR) spectral and cold geographical regions precisely where most of the atmospheric thermal cooling takes place. The TICFIRE mission aims at performing measurements combining Nadir and Limb observations. A conceptual design of the payloads has been developed during a concept study phase supported by the Canadian Space Agency. This work presents the key payload requirements, the conceptual design and the estimated performance.
