Context

Several technologies have been developed for non-destructive testing applications, but the existing systems do not fully meet all needs. If the surface to be analyzed is metallic, and a high level of detail resolution and high accuracy are required, many systems available on the market cannot be considered as practical alternatives.

Solution

INO has developed a high-precision 3D sensor based on Moiré phase-shift techniques. The optical system consists of a pattern projector, a microscope, and an illumination system. The pattern projector together with the microscope allows the measurement of the topography of the inspected surface. This OEM system has been developed to inspect both metallic and non-metallic surfaces, without contact, and was optimized for the best available detail level resolution (vertical: 1µm; horizontal: 5 µm) and high accuracy. This system is well suited for metrology, surface finish assessment, or precision inspections of parts such as blades, molds, and even MEMS.
