What challenges can you expect?

Reporting to the Director - Biotech Business Unit, the Business Development Director has the task of improving the company’s profitability through various strategies to increase revenues and market visibility. He aligns his sales strategy in relation to the organization’s, and also to the strategic corporate objectives defined by the Director - Business Unit. The Business Development Director identifies business opportunities, builds long-term relationships founded on detailed knowledge and comprehension of each client, enabling him to accurately assess and understand clients’ technological solution requirements. In addition to negotiating agreements and proposals and concluding sales, he is responsible for his sales’ profitability and for generating client orders. The successful incumbent has excellent knowledge of the medical and pharmaceutical devices market assigned to him and diligently identifies promising opportunities.

The Business Development Director works in tandem with the Solutions Manager, project managers, the marketing agency and other in-house experts with the goal of augmenting sales opportunities. He is responsible for the complete sales cycle of solutions, from client prospecting to after-sales follow-up.

In addition, the Business Development Director gives presentations to potential and existing clients on solutions that meet their expressed needs and writes technological solution proposals.

The must-haves

  • Undergraduate degree in science and engineering, providing a good understanding of the target market, ideally, in biomedical engineering;
  • Graduate university degree will be considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience within a company active in a technical or high-tech environment, operating in project mode;
  • Understanding of all contemporary marketing and sales management concepts, practices and tools;
  • Technical experience in a medical and pharmaceutical environment;
  • Good understanding of the use of customer relationship management software (CRM).

  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time (Greater Toronto Area and surrounding area) and to travel to the head office in Québec City about once a month.
