Electro-optic / Infrared / Terahertz


As a researcher in the Optronic Systems group, you will be actively involved in the design, fabrication, characterization and prototyping of instruments and imaging systems in the infrared (IR), visible intensifier (I2), short infrared (SWIR) and Terahertz (THz) spectral bands, for civilian, aerospace and defense applications. You will be expected to interact efficiently within multidisciplinary project teams. Your main role will be to contribute in the development of innovative technologies and in the generation of intellectual property through internal and external projects related to leading edge optronic components and systems.

Within the Optronic Systems group, you will participate in the analysis of the client requirements, the flow-down of technical specifications, the development of concepts of operation, the design of components and systems, and the writing of test and validation plans. Your tasks will also include supporting project proposals, and writing technical reports and scientific publications. You will contribute to these projects as a specialist in your field of expertise.

You may also perform technical coordination and planning of technology development projects at INO. You will be attentive to the quality of the scientific work to be performed (requirements, deliverables, budgets and schedule) within a multidisciplinary team.



  • You hold a Bachelor`s, Master’s or Ph.D. degree in physics, physical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field;
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of related experience;
  • You are familiar with infrared imaging, and the development of optronic or THz systems;
  • You master the concepts of System Engineering;
  • You are interested in developing new competencies and are adaptable;
  • You are proactive, driven, motivated, curious, organized and independent;
  • You distinguish yourself by your interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • You are fluent in French and English (oral and written).
