Quantum technologies are now driving major global technological trends. They are recognized as disruptive and, as such, as generator of strong strategic and economic impacts worldwide. INO desires to deploy an efficient strategy regarding quantum technology developments addressing the needs of the Canadian and Quebec industries in order to maintain their competitive edge on a global scale.

Moreover, last year, INO launched a novel incubator, Quantino, dedicated to deep tech small enterprises. The incubator is part of a consortium of Quebec incubators whose focus is to foster new companies engaged in product developments that includes quantum technologies.

Challenges to meet

Based in the head office in Quebec City, the scientific advisor will be responsible for structuring the applied research program in quantum photonic technologies.

To achieve this, the advisor develops and manages a short-, medium- and long-term technology roadmap in quantum photonics that will address industry needs and solutions identified in close collaboration with our business units.

Engaging with the technical teams, the advisor recommends and justifies the strategic technological axes and associated developments she/he puts forward. Relying on her/his expertise, the advisor contributes to the execution of projects, from the onset to the delivery.

The advisor will also contribute to the establishment and activities of an industrial and academic quantum collaboration laboratory hosted in Quantino.

Finally, through proactive management, the advisor coordinates the quantum activities by establishing a coherent alignment with INO's vision, processes, and overall goals.

The Essentials

  • A Ph.D. in quantum photonics
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as research program director
  • A Cutting-edge scientific expertise combined with a strong inclination for the development and commercialization of industrial solutions
  • Relevant experience in the development of quantum sensors and / or integrated or fibered photonic components
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, distribution of quantum encryption keys or quantum networking is an additional asset
  • Fluency in French (or committed to learn) and English, both at oral and written level

  • Recognized communication and relational skills; an intrinsic foundation of the strategic role of the scientific advisor
  • Keen sense of planning and work organization, decision-making and dossiers follow-ups
  • Force of conviction in order to mobilize and engage INO on the proposed technological developments
