JOB DESCRIPTION

The Vice-President, Operations (COO) will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer. They will coordinate all operations strategies in a technological development context in order to meet the needs of clients and business partners in compliance with strict quality standards. The COO will also take into account budgets and timelines and ensure the sequencing of work and the adequate allocation of human resources. As a member of the management team, the Vice-President, Operations will play an important role in INO’s strategic, operational and budget planning.

The COO will be responsible for defining and implementing the strategic directions for project delivery, managing the execution of development work and following up on required performance and control indicators. The role also involves close collaboration with the Vice-President, Business Development and Partnerships to achieve the established business goals. The incumbent will identify the skills necessary to complete tasks and will subsequently ensure that the appropriate resources are available. He or she will provide the leadership and guidance required by multidisciplinary teams in a way that will help them meet their goals.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL PROFILE 

  • You are fluent in English and French, both spoken and written
  • You have a graduate degree (master’s or PhD) in a scientific field or engineering and eager to learning, understanding and remaining up to date about the state of optic-photonic innovation
  • You have executive experience working in a highly technical business setting
  • You have a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in operations management in an R&D and project environment
  • You have 15 years of experience managing people
  • You have extensive management committee experience

REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL PROFILE

  • You are recognized as an excellent unifier and communicator and will be able to apply the business strategy at the operational level
  • You are able to understand and meet internal and external clients’ needs and expectations, and provide quality customer service
  • You demonstrate a strong ability to learn about key challenges facing a variety of industrial sectors
  • Your style of influential leadership is based on sharing information and collaborating
