Inline Terahertz Inspection Solution

Assess the conformity and integrity of plastic bags against your quality criteria while detecting hidden defects earlier in production.

Description

Luqia helps plastic packaging manufacturers identify missing, malformed, or misaligned folds directly in the production line, while helping reduce scrap, lower quality-control effort, and support data-driven process improvement

Designed for inline use, the solution combines live terahertz imaging with configurable PASS/FAIL decision support to help quality teams identify nonconforming products and act closer to the source of defects.

How Luqia’s Inline Terahertz Inspection Solution Works

The solution combines the ARYON-THz-512 terahertz camera, application-specific illumination, and an operator interface for live visualization and image processing. Together, these elements support inline inspection directly in the production environment.

It provides non-contact inspection using non-ionizing terahertz imaging, with configurable PASS/FAIL decision support for the selected application. The configuration is determined by your product, target defect, inspection area, and production-line requirements.

Key benefits for your quality and production teams:

  1. Check fold conformity: Assess fold presence, alignment, and geometry against your product’s acceptance criteria.
  2. Support consistent inspection decisions: Use live terahertz images and configurable PASS/FAIL criteria to support decisions on product conformity.
  3. Target avoidable scrap and rework: Identify nonconformities earlier to support corrective action and efforts to reduce avoidable quality losses.

Technical overview:

  • The ARYON-THz-512 terahertz camera provides 512 × 384-pixel images at a maximum camera frame rate of 30 frames per second.
  • External triggering and a GigE camera interface support the imaging setup.
  • Inspection coverage, achievable line speed, decision performance, and connections to production controls are defined and validated for each application.

Inspection Challenges Addressed in Plastic Packaging Production

Luqia’s inline terahertz inspection solution can help assess fold conformity in plastic bags, including missing, uneven, malformed, or misaligned folds, as well as variations in fold geometry. The inspection configuration and acceptance criteria are defined around your bag design and the defects that matter to your process.

Other inspection needs may include anomalies in seal regions, layer arrangements, or selected foreign materials within plastic packaging. These applications require assessment on representative materials and defect samples to establish whether the relevant features can be distinguished.

Defining the Right Inline Inspection Configuration for Plastic Packaging Defects

The process starts with the defect you need to detect and the quality decision you need to make. Luqia works with your team to assess representative samples, establish acceptance criteria, and determine a suitable inspection configuration before deployment.

Why Choose Luqia for Inline Terahertz Inspection in Plastic Packaging?

  • Support earlier quality decisions: Evaluate an in-line approach to identify defects earlier and reduce reliance on manual or sample-based checks.
  • Built around your inspection challenge: Work with Luqia to define parameters around your products, line, and quality criteria.

Frequently asked questions

  1. What defects can the solution identify? Evaluated examples include missing, uneven, or misaligned folds and variations in fold geometry in plastic bags. Some inclusions have also been evaluated. Detection performance must be confirmed for your materials, defect types, and operating conditions. Seal-region inspection and contamination screening require application-specific assessment.
  2. Can it work on my production line? The solution is designed for inline inspection. Suitability depends on your product dimensions, inspection width, line speed, mounting constraints, and required control signals. These requirements are assessed together to define the inspection configuration and integration scope.
  3. How do we determine whether it will work for our product? Share your inspection challenge, representative conforming and defective samples, acceptance criteria, and production-line requirements. Luqia can then define a sample assessment or demonstration and establish the performance to validate before specifying the solution.
