Member of the board of directors since 1995
Chair, Audit Committee
After completing the Business Administration program at Université Laval, during which period he served as President of the Faculty's Student Association, François Giroux joined the Clarkson Gordon (Ernst & Young) auditing firm in 1982 as an intern to qualify as a chartered accountant.
He left the firm in 1986 to join Gentec Inc. as Controller. When his father died in 1992, he was appointed President of the company. In 2003, his family became the sole shareholder of Gentec, having bought out the majority shareholder.
Since becoming President of the company, he participated in creating the electro-optics division, which today employs close to 40 people. He has also contributed to Gentec's growth: the company is currently recruiting more than 130 individuals. In addition to these activities, he serves on the boards of directors of the Fondation de l’Institut universitaire de cardiologie et pneumologie de Québec, Gentec Electro-Optics Inc. and the Finance Committee of the Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la société et la culture.
In May 2011, he was awarded the Hermès Prize from Université Laval’s Faculty of Business Administration.
