High-power/energy large mode area tapered fiber amplifiers

The average power of a short-pulse Yb-doped fiber laser based on a master oscillator and power amplifier is exceeding 500W. In this paper we investigate the thresholds of the transverse mode instability and stimulated Raman scattering using a pulsed seeder.
