INO develops mode-locked fiber lasers and ultrafast fiber amplifiers according to various designs to meet specific client needs. Pulse durations of less than 100 fs and energies over 1 nJ are readily achieved from self-starting mode-locked fiber oscillators through appropriate pulse-shaping means following selected near-infrared laser transitions of rare-earth-doped fibers (1.0 µm and 1.5 µm). Pulse energy is then boosted up to the µJ level through one or more amplifier stages. Near-diffraction-limited beam output (M2 < 1.3) is achieved using a patent-pending LMA fiber design that allows for unparalleled modal control. Chromatic dispersion and Kerr nonlinearity are dealt with to avoid pulse distortion at the output of the final amplifier stage through appropriate pulse stretcher and compressor designs. Special optical fibers with tailored dispersion profiles may be designed and manufactured to match bulk compressor dispersion and ensure near-transform-limited optical pulses. The linearly polarized laser emission output allows for efficient harmonic generation from NIR down to the ultraviolet (UV).
